The Internet is for YouPorn?

May 28th, 2008

Before I start, let me quickly say that I had a fight with another member of the team about posting on this subject. However, with so many results at the top, it simply couldn’t go ignored.

While the Hotwords data is still not running at full capacity, I still think its safe to say even at this early stage, the Internet really is for porn. It’s not too shocking really, but I was still surprised by the numbers.

For the month of May, at least 11 of the top 20 phrases have been sex related. Also, porn related keywords are snapping positions 1 and 2, ahead of huge corporations like Google, Myspace, etc. YouPorn alone has 3 variants in the top 20 list. Why all of these people are searching for “youporn” phrases rather than just typing it in the URL bar is beyond me, but it’s a habit of millions of Internet users.

So, to answer our Main Slogan “What is the world Searching for?” the answer is clear! YouPorn

The Internet is for For Porn
To further demonstrate that porn is king, let’s throw a graph into the mix:

Please ignore the strange date text and those huge spikes…we’re working on it.

While we’re on the subject of porn phrases, we have gotten a few emails recently concerned about filtering them from view. Soon enough, adult terms will be filtered by default, but you will be able to turn it off. Again, let me say we are on the case and it’s scheduled for the next 2 weeks

Welcome to Hotwords Open Beta

May 14th, 2008

We’re very excited to be opening beta after 8 months of blood, sweat and tears or otherwise know as “development”.
We’re a small team of five based in London UK , We’ve had very little funding but do believe in this product passionately . We also believe there is a need for a service like this, I guess only time will tell.
null
While reviewing please keep in mind this is a VERY early beta stage and the idea of this exercise is to get feedback , Positive or Negative.
We’re collecting limited search data at this stage (running at about 40%) So the system will be getting more accurate as time goes on.

There are many new features and tools planned and on the way. Including, Break down by country, Live Real time searches. etc

If you would like to give us some feedback, please shoot us over a email beta@hotwords.com
We appreciate you dropping by and any comments you may have.
